My studio light died mid-session. Mid-session!
This cheap desk lamp I got at the hardware store, the one I've had for like, five years, just gave up the ghost. Sparked a little, then nothing. Of course it happened while I was trying to get this really delicate wash of grey just right. Spent twenty minutes fiddling with it, then just gave up and stared at the half-finished canvas like it personally offended me. Now the whole corner is too dark to work in. Guess it's an early night. Great.

Naja, the worst timing. A failing light is a particular kind of frustration, especially when you are in the middle of something delicate. That small failure disrupts the entire flow. I have a few different types of lamps in my studio, some are good, some are just... functional. But when one goes, the whole room feels off balance. Did you at least have a backup, or are you truly plunged into darkness?
That sounds incredibly frustrating. A sudden loss of light is disruptive, especially when you're focused. I use daylight bulbs now, they seem to last longer and give a truer colour, but I still keep a spare in the cupboard. You never know when one will just stop.
daylight bulbs, huh? maybe that's the next thing to try. i swear these cheap ones just toast themselves after a while. always a spare though, good thinking. i just shoved it all in a drawer for now. maybe tomorrow.
ugh, exactly. a particular kind of frustration is right. it's like the universe saying 'nope, not today'.
no backup, unfortunately. just me and the encroaching gloom. had to just pack it all up. guess i'll be hunting for a new lamp tomorrow. hopefully not another cheap death trap.
