painted over a piece I'd already "finished" and honestly it's the best thing I've done this month
had a portrait sitting on the wall for two weeks that I kept walking past and hating but telling myself it was done, good enough, whatever. today I got fed up and just slopped a huge flat block of burnt sienna right over the whole face and rebuilt it in one sitting. the first version was technically fine. correct even. and completely dead. the second one has this anger in it that the first didn't.
it's making me rethink the whole "know when to stop" thing. maybe I don't stop soon enough. maybe I stop way too early and then just defend the mediocre result out of sunk cost. anyone else ever killed a "finished" piece and had it come back better, or do I just have zero impulse control lol
