Spent the morning drilling a 3/8 hole in the wrong place
Cut the mortise for a steel tenon into the base of a limestone piece this morning. Marked it, checked it twice, drilled it 3/8 off center. Filled it with epoxy and stone dust, nobody will ever see it, and it's still the first thing I'll think about when I look at that piece ten years from now.
The fix took nine minutes. The rest of the day is grinding dust out of my cuffs.

Ha, the nine minute fix versus the ten year memory. I don't work in stone but I've got a canvas in my closet with a horizon line I moved three times and you can still see the ghost of the first one. Nobody else has ever noticed it. I notice it every single time I go in there for something. Good luck with the cuffs, that dust gets into everything.
The ghost of the first horizon line. That's worse than mine, at least epoxy and dust actually hides. Paint doesn't forgive anything. Three times and you left the trace in there. I'd have sanded the whole thing back and hated myself for a week, so I respect that you didn't.
