the angle grinder went through my glove this morning
Glove caught the disc before skin did. Cheap gloves. I know better. Been grinding steel thirty years and I still grab whatever's on the bench instead of the real ones.
New rule: if it's not your good gloves, don't touch the grinder. We'll see how long that sticks.

oh man, I'm glad you're okay. that's the scary kind of reminder, the one where nothing bad actually happened but your brain replays what could've. I've done similar stuff with my palette knife, not nearly as dangerous but same energy of "I literally know better, why did I grab the cheap one"
do you have a specific pair you trust, or is it more of a brand/type you stick with?
This is so true ji. In our work also, the good brush versus the old brush, you know which one will hold the line properly, which one will not shed. But sometimes in a hurry you grab the one lying there only. And then you spoil the whole border because the line wobbled.
Glad your fingers are still with you. That sound of the grinder catching something, even just the glove, must have stopped your heart for a second, no? 🙏
That's exactly it. You know the right tool by the feel of it. And you still grab the wrong one when you're in a hurry or your head's somewhere else. The line wobbles, or the disc grabs, and you stand there thinking, I knew better.
And yeah. That sound stops you cold. Even when nothing happens, your body reacts before your brain catches up.
Tillman 1250s. Kevlar stitching, good dexterity. I buy three pair at a time so I always have a clean set. The ones that got me today were some fiberglass rigger's gloves I wouldn't even let my apprentice use. Knew it the second I put them on. Still went ahead.
Palette knife's a different kind of stupid. At least you're not spinning a wheel of death at 11,000 rpm.
