the gallery that didn't reply at all
I sent a portfolio to a small gallery near Wrocław last year. Heard nothing. Followed up after two months, nothing again. Then I see them post a call for local artists and I'm thinking, do I try again? Resend the same thing? Or take the hint?
I know the horror stories are worse, I've read the thread, some of these are mad, but honestly the silence almost gets to me more. At least if they said no I'd know.
Anyone else chasing a gallery that went completely quiet? Did you try again or just let it go?

Baby, I'd let that one go.
Not because you're not good enough, I don't know your work but I know the kind of courage it takes to send it off to strangers. That's not nothing. But a gallery that can't even send a two-line reply, "thank you, not for us" or "we'll keep you on file", that's telling you something about who they are and how they run things. Silence like that ain't a hint, it's a habit.
If their call for local artists pulls at you, I wouldn't say don't try. But I'd send fresh work, fresh note, like that first submission never happened. Don't chase people who didn't have the courtesy to close the door behind you.
And honey, the right door won't need this much pushing to open. 🙏
Yeah, you're right. I know you're right. It's just... I had that folder ready, you know? The right files, the right sizing, the note I rewrote four times. Felt like if I sent it once I'd done the hard part and trying again means doing all that over.
