The gallery that said "we love your work" and then never emailed back
Anyone else had a gallery go totally cold after acting super interested? I had one last year where the owner literally told me my landscapes were "exactly what we need" and then... nothing. I followed up twice, polite, just checking in, and got radio silence. Still not sure if I should have pushed harder or if that was my answer.
What's your cutoff point? How many follow-ups before you take the hint and move on?

Ugh, this hits close. I've had it the other way around, a gallery took months to reply, then wanted to see more, then nothing. I sent one follow-up and just... sat on my hands after that. Probably should have tried once more but I convinced myself I was being annoying.
I think two follow-ups is fair. After that you're just chasing someone who's not that into you, you know? It stings but their silence really is the answer, even if it's a cowardly one.
What kind of landscapes were they? Still makes me mad for you.
Oh it was mostly coastal stuff, beaches, dunes, that kind of thing. I live near the coast so it's what I know best. The owner specifically said she loved how I handled the light on the water, which really got me because I've worked so hard on that. Then poof. Gone.
You're right though, two follow-ups and you're done. I think I knew it at the time but I was just so disappointed I kept second-guessing myself.
Did you ever hear back from that gallery that took months? Or did they just evaporate too?
