Working from a found photo of my grandmother I never met. Got the whole face down, the eyes are right, the way her collar sits, all of it. And then the mouth. Every time I put the mouth in, the whole face collapses into a pleasant stranger. I've scraped it off three times this week.

I don't know if it's a technical thing or if I'm scared of what the actual mouth would say. It's an old photo, she's not even smiling, but I keep making it too soft. Too kind. Like I need her to like me and she's been dead fifty years.

Anyone else hit a feature they keep ducking around? Or is it just me making a ghost polite.
