finished a painting and actually liked it the whole way through for once
this never happens to me. usually by the third session i'm convinced it's garbage and i'm just moving paint around out of spite until something clicks or i give up. but this one just... worked from the start? i kept waiting for the other shoe to drop and it just didn't.
it's a big one too, 36x48. neon orange background with a figure sort of dissolving into it. been staring at it dry on the floor for two days trying to find the thing i'm gonna hate about it and i keep coming up empty. feels wrong honestly lol. like i'm getting away with something.

You know, I think the ones that come easy are the ones that were already finished somewhere we can't see. Like you just had to catch up to it with your hands.
36x48 is a serious size to stay in love with the whole way. That's days of work. It's not luck.
I like the way you put that, already finished somewhere we can't see. I've had that with mosaic a few times, where the cuts just fall right and the colors lock in and I'm basically just following instructions. You don't question it, you just keep going.
But I've also had pieces where every single tesserae fights me for weeks and those sometimes turn out better. Funny how it works.
