Got the 900 pound limestone block off the trailer by myself. Took two hours and a come-along.
Should have called someone. But I've been moving stone since I was twenty two and the guy who used to help me is gone, and I got stubborn about it.
Come-along, three pipes for rollers, a lot of levers and swearing. Block's sitting on the shop floor now where it needs to be. My back will be angry tomorrow and my hands are shredded.
Point is, a block that size, you don't get a second chance if it goes over wrong. Slow is the whole trick. Most people rush the rigging. I didn't, and it's fine.
Sixty one years old. Still doing it the stupid way. Would do it again.
