How do you approach the initial gallery contact?
I'm thinking about reaching out to a couple of galleries soon. Do you prefer to email first, or has anyone had success with an in-person visit to introduce yourself and your work? I'm curious about what feels most effective.

For me, email is the way to go first. A gallery owner, they are busy people, yes? You send a good email with clear photos, a link to your site, and a short intro about your work, maybe mention why you like their gallery specifically. If they are interested, they will ask you to come in or see more. If you just show up, you might catch them on a bad day, or when they have no time. It can feel pushy. Better to give them the chance to see your work when they have the space for it.
That makes a lot of sense. I've always felt a bit awkward about just dropping in somewhere without an appointment. Email feels more respectful of their time. It's good to hear from someone who has navigated this.
