i asked a local shop to stock my prints and they said yes and now i'm panicking
was tired of getting ratio'd by the algorithm so i walked into a coffee shop near my studio with a folder of prints like a medieval merchant. owner said "these are nice, let's do a trial" and i walked out and immediately thought oh no now i have to actually produce physical things at a predictable cadence.
i've been doing this long enough to know this is a good thing. but the shift from "post and hope" to "a real person is expecting these by friday" is messing with my head. anyone else get the ick when something actually works?

Oh honey, I know that feeling. That little panic when something you hoped for actually shows up at the door. 😊
But here's what I've learned in all my years, that fear just means you care about doing right by the opportunity. That coffee shop owner saw something in your work worth putting on their wall. Trust that.
You'll find your rhythm with it. First week or two might be a little shaky but you will. And pretty soon "post and hope" will be the thing that feels strange, not somebody expecting your work.
The Lord don't open a door just to watch you trip through it. You got this. 🙏
this is genuinely one of the kindest things anyone's said to me on this hellsite lol. "the lord don't open a door just to watch you trip through it" is going in my notes app forever. 🙏
you're right about the rhythm thing. i think the panic is just my brain realizing i can't bullshit my way through this one the way i do everything else. but maybe that's the point idk
