I finally threw out the dried-up tube of burnt sienna and now I miss it
So I did a supply purge on Saturday, mostly because the box under my table had gotten to the point where I couldn't close it. Found three tubes of burnt sienna, all dried solid. One had a crack in the side. It's been there since I picked painting back up, I think I bought it the week I started again.
Anyway I tossed all three and now every landscape I've touched since looks too cool. There's a warmth that colour was doing that I didn't notice until it was gone. I keep reaching for it.
Went to the local shop today, they don't carry that brand anymore. Ordered online, arrives Thursday. In the meantime I'm mixing yellow ochre with a bit of red and it's close but it's not it.
That's it, that's the whole thing. Nine years of not noticing a paint and then mourning it for four days.
