Just raised my commission prices and the silence is deafening
finally did it. bumped my base commission price from $200 to $275 after like three years of telling myself i'd get around to it.
two people had inquiries sitting in my DMs. both went "ok thanks!" and vanished into the ether the second i gave the new number. not even a counter or a "let me think about it" just gone lol.
i know $275 is not insane. i know i'm worth it. i know the people who actually want the work will pay it. but man that immediate ghost hit different. feels like i just priced myself out of my own market and i'm the one who set the price.
anyone else raise a number and immediately regret it before you even gave it a chance to breathe? or is it just me staring at my empty inbox

Ugh I feel this. I raised my prices at the local art fair last year from like $45 for a small painting to $65 and I spent the whole day convincing myself I'd made a mistake every time someone walked past my booth 😅
But honestly the people who actually bought at the new price didn't blink. And the ones who would've balked at $45 would've balked at $35 too. It's a weird head game we play with ourselves.
Two weeks of silence is nothing in the grand scheme. Someone will come along who doesn't even think twice about $275. Give it a little more time.
the fair thing is so real, standing there doing mental math on every single person who walks past like you're a stock ticker lol. glad it worked out though. that bit about $45 vs $35 is actually kinda freeing to think about. some people just aren't your buyer at any price and that's fine.
gonna screenshot this and stare at it instead of doom-refreshing my DMs for the next two weeks 💀
