My palette has been sitting in the freezer since Sunday
I know that sounds insane. But I read somewhere that acrylic dries too fast to keep out overnight and honestly the freezer thing has saved me so much wasted paint. I've got a Tupperware in there right now between the frozen peas and a bag of waffles, with my burnt sienna and a green I mixed on Sunday that I'm not ready to give up on.
My husband opened it looking for ice cream and just looked at me. Didn't say anything. Just closed it.
The thing is it works, mostly. The paint comes back fine, maybe a touch tacky for the first minute. But I've noticed the yellow ochre never quite recovers. It gets this grainy thing going on. So I've started keeping the yellows out and freezing the rest, which means my palette is now split between the counter and the freezer and I've lost track of which is which about four times this week.
Curious if anyone else does this or if I'm just the weird one at the art fair again.

ok the husband just closing the freezer without a word is so funny, that's the exact face my partner makes when they find my brushes in the bathroom sink again haha. but the yellow ochre thing makes sense actually, ochre's such a thirsty pigment and freezing it probably messes with whatever binder's holding it together, so it comes back grainy or the color sits weird on top of itself. honestly if it's only the ochre dying on you I'd just leave that one out and accept it, ochre's cheap and stubborn anyway. the green you mixed on Sunday though, I get why you're protecting that one, mixing a green you actually like is half the battle 😭
