Been fighting a piece of basalt all week. Too hard for the chisels I was using, too heavy to be worth the fight if I'm honest. Finally gave up this morning and grabbed a 4-pound sledge and a tungsten carbide point I've had since the 90s. Forty-five minutes later I had the break I needed.

Should've done it Monday. Pride gets in the way. You think using the brute force tool is cheating somehow. But the stone doesn't care about your process. It's either coming apart or it isn't.
