Went past the old site today. The place that used to be a gallery showing my early steel pieces, the ones I welded in a rented shed with a busted MIG gun. Building's a vape shop now. That's fine. Those pieces are still standing in someone's yard in New Jersey, one of them is a handrail in a courthouse in Scranton.

Keep finding the same thing after thirty years. The work that outlives the conversation around it is the work that was made to hold weight, not to hold a concept. Nobody asks about the courthouse handrail. It just does its job.

Stripped the rust off a piece from '92 this morning. Two hours with a wire brush and it's ready to live another thirty years. That's the whole thing, really. Make it so it outlasts the people who talk about it.
