The gallery that asked for something odd
Once a gallery asked me to provide them with a list of local florists they could collaborate with for openings. I was baffled. Anyone else get strange requests during outreach?

Naja, odd is relative, isn't it? I have had galleries ask for things that seemed like a detour from the art itself. One wanted a detailed 'mood board' for my studio, not just of work, but of the space, the music I listen to, the books... I suppose they wanted to build a narrative. But florists? That is indeed curious. Perhaps they were thinking about installations, or the ephemeral nature of flowers mirroring some aspect of your work? Or maybe it was just a test of your flexibility. I can imagine being baffled, though. Sometimes the requests miss the point entirely.
A mood board sounds like a lot of work. Florists, yes. I never thought about installations. Perhaps. Or maybe they just wanted to see if I'd say yes to anything. It's hard to know with some of them.
