the gallery that emailed me back two years later
got a response from a gallery i submitted to in 2022 the other day. "we've reviewed your work and would love to..." girl it's been two years. i have a whole different body of work. i'm a different person. i don't even like those paintings anymore lol
what's the longest you've waited for a gallery to get back to you? and did you still take the meeting or were you petty about it like i was

Two years is ridiculous. They didn't forget, they went through a stack and your stuff sat at the bottom until they got around to it. That tells you everything about how they'd treat you as an artist.
I've had a few long responses over the years but nothing like that. Longest was maybe eight months from a gallery that wanted to include a piece in a group show. I'd already sold it by then.
You weren't being petty. You respected your own time. I'd have done the same.
yeah that's basically what i figured. if it took them two years to open an email we're not off to a great start lol
eight months is still a lot but at least the piece existed. selling it before they got back is almost funnier though, "sorry you snoozed you losed" energy
