the one color i will never stop defending
i've had this tube of cadmium yellow deep for like four years and i keep expecting it to run out but it just... doesn't? it's got that crusty weird lid situation where paint has built up so many layers it's basically a fossil. i refuse to replace it. every time someone borrows it they're like "this is gross" and i'm like yeah and it makes the best color i've ever used, sit down.
i think there's something to having that one paint you're weirdly loyal to that no one else gets. mine's this specific warm yellow that looks almost brown in the tube but hits completely different on canvas. i've tried the "clean" version from three different brands and they all suck in comparison. it's the grime. the grime is part of the formula at this point.
