What's the smallest gallery that ever said yes to you?
I keep hearing about the big rooms, but the one that changed things for me was a tiny space above a bookshop, two walls, barely any light, and the woman who ran it just stood in front of a wet print for a long time and said "okay". No contract, no fee, she took nothing on the first show. I still think about her.
So what's the smallest, strangest, least likely place that ever gave you a yes? Not the gallery you want. The one that actually took you.
