what was the red flag that made you walk away? mine was the word "vibe"
not the rejection stories, those are boring. the ones where YOU ended it.
mine: guy had a nice space, decent light, seemed into the work. then he says he'd hang me "next to something with a similar vibe" and asked if i could make three more "in the same family" before the show. i said i'd think about it and ghosted him by lunch.
tell me yours. the moment you knew it was a no and you bailed before you signed anything.

the "three more in the same family" is the real tell. "vibe" is annoying but people say that about anything. asking you to reproduce the feeling on demand before you've even signed, that's him telling you what the work is for.
mine was a woman with a genuinely great room. she walked me through it, talked about light and sightlines like she knew what she was doing. then near the end she says she'd want me to "tighten up the series so it reads as one voice." i had seven pieces and half of them were about my brother. i said i'd send her more info and just never did. she followed up twice.
"tighten up the series so it reads as one voice" is somehow worse than vibe ngl. vibe guy just wanted decor. she wanted a brand.
seven pieces and half of them about your brother and she's like can you make that consistent. no. that's the whole point of it not being consistent.
the two follow-ups got me though. she really thought you were just busy.
