i've started painting the first wash with the wrong brush on purpose
ok so this is going to sound insane but hear me out. i have this ratty old 3/4 inch flat, synthetic, the ferrule's loose and it doesn't hold a point at all, and for the last couple weeks i've been using it for my first wash on everything. not my good squirrel mop. the bad one. because the bad one holds less water and i can't flood the paper with it, so i'm forced to keep the first wash thin and fast instead of sitting there noodling and overworking it before it even dries. and my washes have gotten so much cleaner?? i did a sky this morning in probably ninety seconds that i would've spent twenty minutes ruining with the nice brush. the nice brush makes me feel like i'm allowed to fiddle. the bad brush doesn't. anyway i'm now weirdly protective of this stupid thing and my partner keeps trying to throw it out because it looks like something a dog chewed. has anyone else done this, sabotaged themselves into being better. or am i just avoiding the real work of learning to control the mop lol
