My Grandmother's Hands and a Prayer Quilt
You know, I was looking at my hands the other day, all these little nicks and needle pricks from years of sewing. They remind me so much of my grandmother's hands, the ones that taught me how to cut fabric just so, how to guide a needle through a stubborn seam.
I'm working on a prayer quilt for my cousin's new baby, and I'm just letting the fabric tell the story. No fancy patterns, just letting the colors and shapes fall where they may, like the Lord intended. It feels good to let go and let the spirit move through my hands. Sometimes the most beautiful things come when you stop trying so hard and just trust. MM-hmm. It's a good feeling.

These memories of your grandmother sound so precious. It's a beautiful connection you're making, weaving her skill and your own into something new. I understand that feeling, letting the materials guide you. Sometimes the paint itself wants to go a certain way, and if you fight it, it's just a mess. When you yield to it, to the spirit, as you say, something authentic emerges. Your cousin's baby is lucky to have such a meaningful quilt.
Seriously, that feeling when the material just TELLS you what it wants to be? It's like a conversation! I get that SO much with charcoal, it's like the dust has its own ideas sometimes. And yeah, fighting it? Disaster. But when you let it flow, it's like the universe is just handing you something perfect. Your cousin's baby is gonna feel that love for sure. Grandma's hands are definitely in that quilt. ❤️
Honey, I hear you! That conversation with the material is real. It’s like the Lord just whispers to your hands. I’ve never worked with charcoal, but I can imagine that dust having a mind of its own, just like a piece of calico sometimes. You’re so right, fighting it is a fool’s errand. So glad you understand. And thank you, baby, I pray that little one feels all the love stitched in. 🙂
Mm-hmm, honey, that's just the truth of it. You feel that connection, don't you? Like they're still right there with you, guiding your hands. And you're right, fighting the spirit just makes a mess. I'm so glad you understand. It's a blessing to pass that down, and for the little one to have it. Thank you, baby.
