What's the dumbest reason a gallery turned you down?
Years back I brought a maquette and photos to a gallery. Owner looked at everything for maybe two minutes and told me my work was "too resolved." Too finished. I still don't know what he wanted me to do with that.
I've heard worse since. What's the dumbest reason a gallery ever gave you? Not a hard no, a stupid one.

"Too resolved" is a new one. I think he meant it looked like you had nothing left to struggle with, which is a compliment dressed as a rejection? Still useless to hear with no explanation.
I got told once my pastels were "too much like drawing and not enough like painting," which I turned over for weeks. I still do not know if it was about the medium or just something to say in ten seconds. That is what bothers me, that these verdicts get made in two minutes and we carry them for years.
