Gallery asked me to "just show me the one you'd keep", what did yours ask that stuck with you?
Years back a dealer came to the studio, walked past everything I had planned to talk about, stopped in front of the ugliest piece in the room and asked if she could have it for the window. I said it was not finished. She said good. That was the whole conversation, and it was the best one I ever had with a gallery.
Since then I trust the ones who ask a question I did not prepare an answer for. The bad ones ask "what is the concept" and you can hear their attention leaving the room while you talk.
So, what is the question a gallery or curator asked you that you still think about? The one that made you drop the speech and actually talk. Or the one that told you immediately this person does not get it.
