Grinding dust gets in everything
Spent yesterday smoothing out a seam on a steel piece and the dust got into the garage fridge somehow. Opened it this morning for a beer and there's a fine gray film on everything. It's not in the food, just on the bottles and the door shelves. Don't know how it gets in there. I've had the same fridge in that shop for twenty years and I still find dust in places that make no sense. Coffee cup sitting on a shelf three feet from where I was grinding, and it's got a layer on top.
Anyway. Wiped it down and pulled a cold one. Not much else to say about it. Some days the work just follows you around.

I know exactly what you mean, though mine is pigment rather than steel. I can work at the far end of the studio, sealed off, and somehow there's a fine film of sienna or ultramarine on the table by the door. It defies physics. I've stopped trying to explain it and just accepted that fine particulate matter has its own notions about where it belongs.
What gets me is that it travels far better than you'd expect from something you'd think was heavy enough to fall straight down. I suspect the fine fraction just stays suspended and drifts on air currents you can't feel. Still, twenty years and it keeps surprising you. That's a consistent mystery.
At least the cold one was waiting. Some things stay reliable.
